Technology

I can't help but feel I'm falling further behind in computers. I went to the computer store and had a hard time comparing CPU's since I didn't know many of them. Went with an LG LCD because I don't really know BenQ.

For my projects I use the same proven hardware that I am familiar with. I have Visual Basic .Net but don't use it. The common runtime engine runs a simple for next loop 50% slower. My applications require speedy response and are marginally real-time in nature. Also a serial interface under VB .Net is a nuisance to implement. So I'm stuck on VB 6.

One new tech toy is a USB 2 external case with a DVD burner in it. I can move it to different computers and it's practical (2 disks instaed of 12 CD's) to backup complete hard drives onto DVD. DVD opens a new area of DVD+R versus DVD-R and video editting. More technology to absorb.

Somedays it feels like there are too many options.
